Exploration : East is East

This review is brought to you by: my boyfriend taking me out for delicious Middle Eastern food. What a guy.

So this establishment {check out their Facebook page here} is super nifty, with great food, and a super vibey {in a good way} atmosphere! It's pretty reasonable priced {between $15 + $30} and, in my opinion, the portion sizes are perfect.

I got the Afghan Nomad roti wrap, which was delicious, because I was in a full on meal kind of mood; but they also have the "tasting menu" {as explained to us by our hostess} where you select a variety of different dishes and you get a tasting platter of all of them {they're super manageable portions from what I saw}, then you can order a full size of something you tried, or something that you didn't try, but intrigued you! I'll definitely be trying that out next time I go. The chai is good, but my dad makes better... so I guess that's one down side.

The food was great and all, but what really got me was the atmosphere! It has great mood lighting, and the classic low tables with lots of cushions and tapestries, and all that good stuff. They also do shared tables, and while you don't have to become besties with the people you share your table with, it creates an interesting sense of sharing and community {and we all know I love community!}

The service wasn't the best, but I'd definitely recommend trying it out if you're in the neighbourhood! One thing, as far as I understand, they don't take reservations, but you can be put on a "priority list" for a certain time, where you end up first in line for the first table that comes up after the time you're prioritized for {we waited for about ten minutes, but it was definitely worth the wait!}
